RECOMMENDATION

Staff is recommending approval of the Cooperative Purchase Agreement with Shade Structures, Inc. dba USA SHADE & Fabric Structures, Inc. of Dallas, TX in the amount of $297,750.59 under the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) March 2, 2017, Request for Proposal for the procurement of Recreational and Playground Equipment, Accessories and Supplies, and authorize the Public Works Director or designee to sign the contract on behalf of the City.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Public Works Department is requesting Council approve the Cooperative Purchase Agreement to allow procurement of the fabric shades utilizing the original vendor which is both cost effective and time efficient. The vendor possesses the original plans on file which will allow the start of the fabrication process upon contract issuance. The approval will streamline the project by omitting the lengthy Request for Qualifications / Proposals, re-creating shop drawings, review periods and unknown factors of a new vendor unfamiliar with the structure. The cloth fabric shades are over five years past their life expectancy and are failing. The project is part of the adopted City budget.
