RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution authorizing the submission of a grant application to the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) Safe Streets and Roads for All Discretionary Grant Opportunity for a Vision Zero Action Plan project totaling up to $1 million in request for funding; and authorize the execution of all grant application and grant agreement documents by the Public Works Director or designee.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Staff is requesting authorization to submit an application to the Safe Streets and Roads for All Discretionary Grant Opportunity (SS4A) for the purpose of developing a citywide Vision Zero Action Plan. SS4A is a new grant program created under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, also referred to as the "Bipartisan Infrastructure Law" or "BIL". The purpose of this grant is to improve roadway safety by significantly reducing or eliminating roadway fatalities and serious injuries through safety action plan development and implementation.
