RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council approve the pre-purchase of a Biotrickling Filter Odor Control System from Evoqua Water Technologies of San Diego California in the amount of $2,543,000. The equipment will replace a portion of the existing Headworks Facility Odor Control System at the Fresno-Clovis Regional Wastewater Reclamation Facility (RWRF).

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Department of Public Utilities Wastewater Management Division is seeking to pre-purchase an odor control system for use in the upcoming "Headworks Odor Control System Replacement and Relocation" construction contract at the RWRF. This agreement is a purchase contract which will be assigned by the City under an Assignment and Novation Agreement to the construction contractor. A purchase order will not be issued at this time but the contract price will be included in the contract amount for the construction contract. Staff recommends the City Council approve the purchase in the amount of $2,543,000. It is anticipated that the Headworks Odor Control System Facility Improvements construction contract will be presented to City Council within four months of the approval of this pre-purchase contract and after a public bidding process.
