RECOMMENDATIONS

Staff recommends that City Council adopt a finding of Categorical Exemption and award a construction contract with Durham Construction Company, of Clovis, CA (Durham) for $168,820 for the 940 Broadway Building Demo project and authorize the Public Works Director or designee to sign and execute the standardized contract on behalf of the City of Fresno.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Built in 1965, the building was originally constructed for the Fire Department and used as a Fire Station. It was later utilized as a storage facility for the Police Department until earlier this year. It has been determined that the building is no longer needed by the City and due to its condition, it would be most cost effective to demolish the 50+ year old structure. This construction contract with Durham will remove the structure from the site to eliminate potential issues associated with the abandoned building.
