RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council approve the one-year agreement with Fresno-Madera Area Agency on Aging (FMAAA) to operate the Senior Hot Meals (SHM) Program at seven sites and authorize the PARCS Department Director to execute the agreement on behalf of the City.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The SHM Service Provider Contract is an annual contract with FMAAA to provide hot meals to Senior Citizens living in Fresno. The City will receive $80,000 from FMAAA for site management and the provision of congregate meals at seven senior sites including: Inspiration Park, Lafayette Neighborhood Center, Mary Ella Brown Community Center, Mosqueda Community Center, Pinedale Community Center, Senior Citizens Village and Ted C. Wills Community Center. The FMAAA funding is supplemented with participant meal contributions, General Fund, and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. Financial support provides healthy meals for seniors as well as recreation activities including ceramics, sewing, gardening, watercolor painting, exercise programs, and field trip excursions.

BACKGROUND
