ADA Coordinator asked the Commission for their input/thoughts regarding
streamlining the DAC Awards process. The Commission was in agreement
to streamline the process so that it's less cumbersome. Creating a task
force to come up with ideas is a great start.
There was much discussion along with great ideas among the
Commissioners. The Commission agreed to bring the topic back in
February 2025 to discuss further.
Upon call no public comments were received.
On motion of Villarreal, seconded by Chair Derrick, the above Action

Evaluate DAC Mission and Purpose
ADA Coordinator Joe Hinojosa reviewed with the Commission the following
documents:
1. Vision and Mission Statement
2. DAC Bylaws
3. Goals & Objectives
The Commission came up with some great ideas regarding the DAC Vision
and Mission statement in addition to goals and objectives. The DAC
Commission is not well attended as in previous years. The Commission
suggested reaching out to the public, organizations and previous DAC
members to get ideas in increasing more participation.
Joe Hinojosa will email the documents out to the Commission for review
and comments. This topic will be added to the January 2025 meeting for
further discussion. The Commission would like Joe Hinojosa to reach out to
the Mayor's Office to get input on specific goals they want the Commission
to work towards in terms of ensuring citizens with disabilities continue to
have equal access to resources and services.
