The purpose / mission of the Building Standards Appeals Board is, in accordance with Section 1.8.8.1 of the California Building Code, to serve as the designated body to hear and decide appeals of orders, decisions, and determinations made by the City of Fresno related to Building Code violations, specifically actions related to Chapter 11, Article 3, and Chapter 11, Article 4 of the Fresno Municipal Code.
The Building Standards Appeals Board is a five member, decision-making body. Members are appointed by the Mayor, approved by the City Council and serve four year terms. Qualification for members include 1) City residency; and 2) knowledge of California building codes and regulations and the Fresno Municipal Code, such as may be obtained through experience in construction, architecture, engineering, or related fields. Members may not be employees of the City of Fresno.
