RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommends approval of an agreement with TAM+CZ Inc., in the amount of $127,880 plus a contingency of $10,000 for the design and preparation of construction documents for the Community Center Remodel Project at 5191 North Sixth Street and authorizes the Public Works Director or designee to execute the Agreement on behalf of the City of Fresno.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The newly acquired Community Center is located on the southeast corner of Sixth Street and Bulldog Lane in Fresno. The Community Center has a planned use to serve as a neighborhood center for the El Dorado community and surrounding area, providing a variety of recreational and social activities, programs and events for the youth, adult and senior populations. Staff recommends hiring TAM+CZ Inc., to develop plans and bid documents for the Community Center Remodel Project at 5191 North Sixth Street.
BACKGROUND
On June 18, 2020, the City Council approved the acquisition of the property located at 5191 North Sixth Street for the development of a community center in the site’s existing building space.
The Community Center Remodel Project will focus on bringing the current building space into compliance with, and improve upon, the building’s ADA accessibility, energy efficiency, and overall configuration with a goal of optimizing the existing space and facilitating the proposed programs and activities.
On May 4, 2020, staff published a Request for Qualifications inviting consultants to submit for services on an “as needed” or “on call” basis for Facilities Management Divisions Projects. TAM+CZ Inc. was selected as an “as needed” or “on call” Architectural Firm.
Staff recommends approval of an agreement with TAM+CZ Inc., in the amount of $127,880 plus a contingency of $10,000 for the design and preparation of construction documents for the Community Center Remodel Project at 5191 North Sixth Street and authorizes the Public Works Director or designee to execute the Agreement on behalf of the City of Fresno.
ENVIRONMENTAL FINDINGS
This is not a project as defined by the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), pursuant to CEQA guidelines § 15378.
LOCAL PREFERENCE
TAM+CZ is a local business, as defined by the Fresno Municipal Code.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for this project was previously appropriated in Resolution 2020-029, the 14th carryover amendment, approved by City Council on February 13, 2020. Project funding was included in the Continuing Resolution adopted by the Council for the current FY2021 budget.
