***RESOLUTION - Adopting the 28th Amendment to the Annual Appropriation Resolution (AAR) No. 2024-122 to appropriate $10,000 from the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) Better Together Giving Program for Senior Programming (Requires 5 Affirmative Votes) (Subject to Mayor’s Veto)

Body

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommend that the City Council approve and adopt the 28th Amendment to AAR No. 2024-122 allocating $10,000 in funds from the PG&E donation into the PARCS Department’s Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) budget to be used for Senior Programming.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The PARCS Department has been awarded a donation of $10,000 from PG&E for the Senior Program. Staff are seeking Council approval to appropriate the full award of $10,000 to the PARCS Department FY25 budget.

BACKGROUND

On September 3, 2024, the PARCS Department applied for a donation through PG&E’s Better Together Giving Program. In October 2024 PARCS staff received notice from PG&E that the City of Fresno had been awarded a donation in the amount of $10,000 to be used for PARCS Senior Programming.

This donation is being used to enhance senior programming through the purchase of program materials for enriching activities such as bingo brunches at nine (9) community centers serving over 200 seniors. During the brunch, PG&E is on-site to answer questions about resources that are available to seniors to manage energy costs.

This item has been reviewed by the City Attorney’s Office and the Budget and Management Studies Department.
