Body
RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommends that the City Council approve and adopt the 48th amendment to Annual Appropriation Resolution (AAR) No. 2024-122 appropriating a $10,000 reimbursement from the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) for costs associated with the 2024 summer season cooling center operations.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On an annual basis the City of Fresno operates Cooling Centers in accordance with the City of Fresno Cooling Center policy as outlined in resolution number 2023-320. The City of Fresno is eligible to apply for reimbursement from PG&E for personnel and supply costs associated with Cooling Center operations. Staff are seeking approval to appropriate the full grant award of $10,000 to the PARCS Department's Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 budget to reimburse expenses incurred by PARCS during the 2024 summer season.
BACKGROUND
In April, 2024, PG&E contacted the City of Fresno to announce the 2024 PG&E Cooling Center Program, and request information about Cooling Center operational plans. In May 2024, the Emergency Preparedness Services Program Administrator was notified that PG&E would reimburse the City for $10,000 in costs associated with 2024 Cooling Center operations.
In December 2024, the Emergency Preparedness Services Program Administrator submitted a reimbursement request to PG&E. PARCS is seeking an amendment to the Annual Appropriation Resolution to enable acceptance of this reimbursement. Approval of this item will authorize the PARCS Department to appropriate the $10,000 from PG&E into the FY2025 budget.
