RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends Council approve the Second Amendment to the Agreement with Genfare SPX in the amount of $116,603.79 for the purchase of two ticket vending machines (TVMs) as spares for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Department of Transportation/FAX seeks to replace a BRT station TVM damaged by a vehicle located at El Paso and Blackstone Avenues and procure a spare for future deployment in the event of catastrophic damage. The TVM is unable to be repaired at this location. Moreover, this Amendment will allow FAX to more readily respond to equipment that has been damaged beyond repair.

BACKGROUND

FAX entered into an agreement with Genfare SPX on January 13, 2017, for a BRT transit fare collection system in the amount of $4,264,000. This agreement includes the manufacturing, delivery, installations, and testing of TVM along the BRT route. The TVMs were procured in order to decrease the amount of time each bus dwells at each station. This equipment provides a convenient method of purchasing and activating fares. In March 2018, Council approved a no cost First Amendment to the Agreement modifying the scope of work.

In the past few months, a TVM located at El Paso and Blackstone Avenues was substantially damaged by a vehicle. Technicians are unable to repair this machine; therefore, it requires replacement.
