RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommend that the City Council authorize the City Manager or designee to apply for a grant of up to $180,000 from the FMAAA to fund FY2026 Senior Hot Meals programming and authorize the City Manager or designee to accept grant funds and sign all related documents on behalf of the City.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Staff anticipate that the FMAAA's Governing Board will release a grant in summer 2025 to fund Senior Hot Meals programming in FY2026. The grant award is anticipated to be for a one-year term starting July 1, 2025, and ending on June 30, 2026. Staff is seeking Council approval to apply for and accept the anticipated grant award in full, execute the grant agreement, and sign all related documents on behalf of the City.

BACKGROUND

The PARCS Department has a long-standing partnership with the FMAAA to serve as a nutrition site management operator. FMAAA provides annual funding to the PARCS Department to serve hot meals to seniors aged 60+ at six community centers, including the following sites: Inspiration, Lafayette, Mary Ella Brown, Mosqueda, Pinedale, and Ted C.
