RECOMMENDATIONS

Staff recommends Council award a contract in the amount of $976,329.45 to Steve Dovali Construction to construct well site improvements at PS 250A, 236A and 52A; and authorize the Director of Public Utilities or designee to sign all documents on behalf of the City of Fresno.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Department of Public Utilities, Water Division, solicited contractor services to construct well site improvements at PS 250A, 236A and 52A. Steve Dovali Construction was found to be the lowest responsive and responsible bidder with a bid in the amount of $976,329.45. This project will construct improvements needed to bring the new water supply wells drilled at each site to an operational state.

BACKGROUND

The Water Division maintains a network of some 260 plus municipal water supply wells that provides 88% of the City's potable water. New wells are required to meet new demands, replace wells that have reached the end of their useful life, or assist in remediating water quality issues. The proposed well site improvements are necessary for new water wells that will augment lost production when older outdated wells in the area are decommissioned.

The well lots have been previously secured and the production wells have been drilled for these projects. The rest of the site improvements are needed to make the pump stations operational and comply with the Conditional Use Permit requirements.
