Approve Agreement with Fresno Unified School District (FUSD) for use of District pools for the PARCS Summer Swim Program.

RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the Agreement with Fresno Unified School District (FUSD) for use of designated pools by PARCS for swim lessons, community recreational swim and weekend "Blue Space" free swim beginning June 12, 2017, and authorize the PARCS Assistant Director to sign the Agreement.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Staff is recommending approval of an agreement with FUSD in which the City's PARCS Department will provide community recreational and swim lessons to Fresno residents that live near FUSD aquatics facilities, beginning on Monday, June 12, 2017. PARCS plans to provide weekday swim lessons at four area high schools that include Bullard, Edison, Fresno and Hoover High for eight weeks.
In addition, approval of this agreement with allow PARCS to augment weekday community recreational swim as well as weekend free swimming as part of the existing Weekend Recreation "Green Space" program that was implemented last year through a partnership between the City and FUSD in 2016. The additional "Blue Space" swim program will be provided at McLane, Roosevelt and Sunnyside High Schools resulting in seven FUSD High School swimming pools available over a 58 day period during the summer of 2017.
It should be noted that swim lessons or recreational swimming will no longer be provided at Airways Pool due to renovation costs (estimated at $450,000) and issues related to the Airports ability to fund the cost of renovations.
