RESOLUTION - of the Council of the City of Fresno, California, naming the Conference Room at Fresno Yosemite International Airport the “Nick Palomares Room”

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Council take the following action:
1. ADOPT RESOLUTION naming the conference room at Fresno Yosemite International Airport to the “Nick Palomares Room”.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The approval of this action would allow for the legacy of Nick Palomares to continue at Fresno Yosemite International Airport.
BACKGROUND
Mr. Nick Palomares was born and raised in Lemoore, California and dedicated his early years serving in the United States Navy. After his military service, Mr. Palomares graduated from barber school in Fresno, California which launched a lifetime of memories.
In 1972, Mr. Palomares opened his iconic barbershop at Fresno Yosemite International Airport. Mr. Palomares developed a flair for spotting celebrities traveling through the airport, compiling an impressive photo gallery chronicling decades of his celebrity encounters.
Mr. Palomares passed away in May 2018, and his loss is felt not just by his loyal customers and airport personnel, but throughout the community. His positivity and genuine spirit that graced the airport for over four decades should surely be recognized.
