1. ***RESOLUTION - A Resolution of the Council of the City of Fresno adopting the 2nd Amendment to the Annual Appropriation Resolution (AAR) No. 2026-159 appropriating $191,400 for the addition of one (1) full-time sworn position in the Fire Department (Requires 5 Affirmative Votes) (Subject to Mayor's Veto)
2. ***RESOLUTION - A Resolution of the Council of the City of Fresno, California, adopting the First Amendment to Resolution (PAR) No. 2026-158 entitled "A Resolution to the Council of the City of Fresno establishing the number of positions authorized in the various Departments and Offices of the City for fiscal year 2027" (Subject to Mayor's Veto)

RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that Council 1) adopt the 2nd Amendment to the AAR No. 2026-159 to appropriate $191,400; and 2) adopt the First Amendment to the PAR No. 2026-158 to add one (1) permanent, full-time sworn Fire Battalion Chief position and associated costs to the Fire Department.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The proposed amendments will add one (1) permanent, full-time sworn Fire Battalion Chief position and associated costs to the Fire Department to ensure adequate staffing to meet current and anticipated vacancies within the department.
BACKGROUND
On or about January 31, 2022, the City and IAFF Local 202 for Unit 5 and Unit 10 mutually agreed upon numerous items in their settlement agreement for additional pay steps.
