RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council approve an agreement for professional engineering services with Provost and Pritchard Consulting Group, Inc. for $132,070, with a $10,000 contingency, for the design and construction support phases of the Merced Street Reconnection Project and authorize the Public Works Director, or designee to sign the agreement on the City's behalf.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The adopted Downtown Specific Plans identified the need for the Merced Street Reconnection Project to reestablish a 600-foot segment of Merced Street, between H Street and Congo Alley, as well as the 230-foot northerly extension of Broadway Street from its current terminus at Broadway Street connector roadway (280-feet north of Fresno Street) to intersect with the Merced Street extension. Between February 2019 and February 2021, the Council has adopted three resolutions of support for City grant applications for Measure "C" Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) design funding, and the project has been awarded funding for design and construction. To initiate project design, the City advertised a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for professional engineering services to prepare the design and construction documents for the Merced Street Reconnection Project.
