RECOMMENDATIONS

Staff recommends the Council adopt a resolution ordering the summary vacation of a portion of North Broadway Street, South of East Elizabeth Street, as described in Exhibit "A" and as shown on Exhibit "B" of the attached resolution.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The City of Fresno Public Works Department is requesting the vacation of a portion of North Broadway Street, South of East Elizabeth Street. The purpose of the vacation is to accommodate the Broadway Parque (formerly known as South Tower Park) Project.

BACKGROUND

The proposed vacation is needed to vacate the public street easement, originally dedicated by City of Fresno with Resolution No. 1777, that is no longer needed. Once vacated by the City of Fresno, the land will be used to accommodate the Broadway Parque (formerly known as South Tower Park) Project and create a new pocket park. The size of the park is approximately 29,000 square feet including the sidewalk and park strips.

The Public Works Department, other City Departments and utility agencies have reviewed this proposal and determined that the street right-of-way proposed for vacation is unnecessary for present or prospective public street purposes.
