RECOMMENDATIONS

Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager or Designee to apply for a $2,000,000 federal grant from the CVIPI grant program and authorize the City Manager or designee to execute the grant agreement and sign all related documents on behalf of the City.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The PARCS Department is seeking $2,000,000 in grant funding from the BJA to develop a Violence Reduction Strategic Plan, make $1,100,0000 in grant funding available to community based and/or non-governmental organizations for evidence-informed community violence reduction strategies, and further develop multisector collaborative efforts to intervene and prevent violence.

BACKGROUND

The BJA released the FY24 CVIPI grant solicitation on April 4, 2024. The BJA has appropriated $72,000,000 million dollars to invest in evidence-informed community violence interventions that focus on serving those at highest risk for violence.
