RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the 28th Amendment to the Annual Appropriation Resolution No. 2025-179 to appropriate $674,200 for new capital improvement projects in the Public Works Department.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

There are several new capital improvement projects staff is preparing to implement which are funded from State grants, Federal grants and other local sources. The grant funded projects were awarded State funds through the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) administered by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), and Federal transportation funds through the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program (CMAQ) and the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program (STBG) administered by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). Due to the timing of grant award notifications, these projects have not yet been incorporated into the City's FY2026 budget. Staff recommends Council adopt the amendment to the AAR in order to provide appropriations in the Public Works FY 2026 Capital Budget to sufficiently cover anticipated expenditures for the cost of these new projects.

BACKGROUND

Staff is seeking Council approval on the attached AAR amendment which will appropriate funding for five (5) new capital projects.
