RECOMMENDATIONS

Staff recommends City Council approve this contract between the Police Department and FUSD which designates eleven SROs and one sergeant.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Police Department and FUSD have had a continuous agreement for SRO services since 2004. FUSD will reimburse the Police Department $1,253,264 which funds nine officers at 75%, two officers at 100%, one sergeant (at 90%), and twelve patrol vehicles. The remaining 10% if the police sergeant costs are paid by other contracted school districts. The School Resource Officers reimbursed at 75% will perform regular law enforcement services at FUSD high schools (Edison, Roosevelt, McLane, Hoover, Bullard, Phoenix Secondary Community Day School, Cambridge/DeWolf) and select middle schools (Ft. Miller and Tehipite) during the respective school's normal hours of operation and during a timeframe that includes the standard school year which is approximately 39 weeks of the year, August through June. This does not include summer school, Thanksgiving break, Winter break, Spring break and any other days that school is not in session. The two officers reimbursed 100% perform regular law enforcement services at Fresno and Sunnyside high schools plus FUSD summer programs and juvenile probation operations (during school breaks) for the entire fiscal year.
