RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the City Council adopt the 25th amendment to the Annual Appropriations Resolution (AAR) No. 2026-159 to reallocate $70,000 from General Fund and appropriate $30,000 from the Community Benefit Fund for the fiscal 2027 LGBTQ Grant Program.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The proposed action will provide a total of $100,000 for the Fiscal Year 2027 LGBTQ Grant Program to support eligible community-based organizations providing programs, services, outreach, education, and resources benefiting Fresno residents.

The City of Fresno has previously invested in programs and community-based organizations serving the LGBTQ community, including investments in Fiscal Years 2024 and 2025. The proposed FY 2027 program continues that commitment by providing resources to eligible community-based organizations serving Fresno residents.

Community-based organizations play an important role in connecting residents with services, resources, outreach, education, and other forms of assistance. These organizations often have established relationships within the communities they serve and are positioned to respond directly to local needs.

This investment also comes at a time when nonprofit and community-based organizations are navigating an increasingly uncertain funding environment, including reductions and changes in federal funding that may affect resources available for local programs and services.
