REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BILLY P. ALCORN, Interim Fire Chief
Fire Department
SUBJECT
Title
Approve agreement with the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) for temporary assignment of a Type I Fire Engine.
Body
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended the Council approve the agreement for temporary assignment of vehicular equipment and accept a Type I Fire Engine from Cal OES.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Fresno Fire Department responds to mutual aid requests as part of the California Master Mutual Aid Agreement. The engine previously assigned has been placed out of service due to age and Cal OES is assigning a replacement.
BACKGROUND
In 2005, Cal OES assigned a Fire Engine to the City of Fresno for response to all-risk events, emergency incidents, civil defense and disaster purposes as part of the mutual aid response guidelines of the California Master Mutual Aid Agreement. That engine has recently been placed out of service due to age. Cal OES is replacing the out of service apparatus (a 2005 HME Type I Engine). The new apparatus is a 2022 HME Type I Engine. All aspects of the temporary assignment of vehicular equipment remain the same.
