RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council approve an agreement for professional engineering services with Peters Engineering Group for $258,770, with a $30,000 contingency, for design and construction support services for the Clinton Avenue Widening Project and authorize the Public Works Director or designee to execute the agreement on behalf of the City of Fresno.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Clinton Avenue Widening Project from 600 feet west of Marks Avenue to 500 feet west of Valentine Avenue proposes to build out Clinton Avenue to the ultimate width including complete streets elements. The roadway will be widened from two travel lanes with a continuous left turn lane to four travel lanes with a continuous left turn lane and install sidewalk and class II bicycle facilities. It will also include new streetlights, curb, gutter, curb ramps, power pole relocation and signal modifications. The design phase of this project has been funded with New Growth Area Major Street Impact Fees. Council approval of the consultant agreement is being recommended in order to facilitate development of the street improvement plans, bid specifications and construction support services necessary to complete the project.
