RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council adopt a Resolution authorizing the Public Works Director, Capital Projects Director, or their respective designee(s) to negotiate and execute, on behalf of the City, all project-related documents and agreements, including amendments, with utility companies, public or otherwise, for public work of improvement no greater than the formal bid limit.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Adoption of the Resolution will provide authority to the Public Works Director and the Capital Projects Director or their respective designee(s) to negotiate and execute, on behalf of the City, all project-related documents and agreements, including amendments, of a routine nature with utility companies, public or otherwise, in an effort to meet project and funding obligation deadlines and public expectations for project delivery, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney's Office and compliance with Administrative Order 2-1.

BACKGROUND

On January 12, 2012, the Council adopted Resolution 2012-1 authorizing the Public Works Director to execute agreements of a routine nature for Underground Utility District projects that have been previously approved and funded through Rule 20A allocations funds from PG&E.
