SUBJECT

Title

Approve Grant Agreement with Marjaree Mason Center (MMC) allocating $75,000 in funding for the MMC Community Resource Building Project.

Body

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the City Council approve the Grant Agreement with Marjaree Mason Center (MMC) and allocate $75,000 in funding for the MMC Community Resource Building Project.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Marjaree Mason Center (MMC) has requested funding to support the development of a Community Resource Building. This project aims to provide essential services to individuals and families affected by domestic violence. The proposed grant of $75,000 will contribute to the construction and operational costs of the facility, enhancing MMC's capacity to offer comprehensive support services.

The $75,000 is intended to cover the costs of hardscape work necessary to meet ADA requirements, which exceed the designated amount. These ADA requirements include replacing sidewalks and paving the ADA stalls that will be installed.

BACKGROUND

The Marjaree Mason Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing shelter and supportive services to victims of domestic violence. The organization has been a cornerstone in the community, offering emergency housing, counseling, legal assistance, and educational programs. The new Community Resource Building will expand MMC's ability to serve more individuals and families in need.
