FROM:                     Doug Sloan, City Attorney

SUBJECT:                     FY21 Budget Amendment to Transfer Funds from CAO Budget

Title

***Resolution (AAR) transferring one million dollars from the City Attorney’s Office budget to Council District budgets and to a fund for COVID expenses (requires 5 affirmative votes)(subject to veto).

Body

RECOMMENDATION

Approve a Resolution amending the City Attorney’s Office budget by transferring $1 million, with $50,000 to be added to each Council District discretionary budget and $650,000 to a fund for COVID expenses, to be spent as directed by Council.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The City Attorney’s Office is projected to have at least $1 million available from the FY21 Budget that would go unspent during the fiscal year. These funds may be reallocated based upon needs as directed by Council policy. The Resolution requires 5 affirmative votes, and is subject to veto.

BACKGROUND

The proposed Resolution amends the FY21 Budget, as follows:

1.                     The CAO Budget will be reduced by $1 million.

2.                     $50,000 will be added to each Council District discretionary budget, for a total of $350,000.

3                     $650,000 will be added to a fund for COVID related expenses, to be spent as directed by Council.

FISCAL IMPACT

No net fiscal impact, is this is only an internal reallocation of budgeted funds.
