RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommend that the City Council adopt the resolution authorizing the grant application, acceptance, and execution of related documents for up to $180,000 from the Fresno-Madera Area Agency on Aging (FMAAA) to fund Senior Hot Meals programming in Fiscal Year (FY) 2027.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Staff anticipate that the FMAAA's Governing Board will release a grant in summer 2026 to fund PARCS Senior Hot Meals programming in FY 2027. The grant award is anticipated to be for a one-year term starting July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027. Adoption of the resolution will authorize submittal of the application for grant funding and acceptance of grant funds if awarded.

BACKGROUND

The Parks, After School, Recreation and Community Services Department (PARCS) has a long-standing partnership with the FMAAA to serve as a nutrition site management operator. FMAAA provides annual funding to the PARCS Department to serve hot meals to seniors aged 60+ at six community center sites: Inspiration, Lafayette, Mary Ella Brown, Mosqueda, Pinedale, and Ted C. Wills. In addition to the six existing meal sites, PARCS anticipates adding a seventh meal service site at the Paul "Cap" Caprioglio Center in 2026.
