RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that City Council approve a consultant services agreement with Southwest Strategies, LLC, in the amount not to exceed $299,744 to provide professional education and outreach services for City of Fresno residential food waste education and outreach program (Project); and authorize the Director of Public Utilities, or designee, to sign the agreement on behalf of the City of Fresno (City).

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Department of Public Utilities (DPU), Solid Waste Management Division (SWMD) is actively pursuing compliance with the requirements imposed through Senate Bill (SB) 1383 and incorporated into Title 14 of the California Code of Regulations, in addition to all City organics and food waste requirements. After a competitive consultant selection process, the SWMD desires to enter into a consultant services agreement (Agreement) for the Project to create and implement a comprehensive, multi-lingual food waste education and outreach program targeting residential solid waste customers in the amount not to exceed $299,744.

Approval of this contract with Southwest Strategies, LLC, will assist the SWMD's efforts to achieve SB 1383 compliance.
