RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends Council approve the award of a cooperative purchase agreement to Golden State Peterbilt of Fresno, CA, for the purchase of one Peterbilt 567 dump truck in the amount of $229,086.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Department of Public Utilities, Wastewater Management Division seeks to purchase one Peterbilt 567 dump truck to transport concrete, dirt, and other material as needed to complete projects. The new truck will be purchased as a replacement through a competitively solicited cooperative procurement process administered by Sourcewell, formerly the National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA).

On July 15, 2021, Council awarded a cooperative purchase agreement to Pape Kenworth for a Kenworth dump truck for the Department of Public Utilities. On November 4, 2021, Pape Kenworth cancelled the purchase order citing pandemic caused supply chain issues impacting the manufacture and could no longer fulfil the order. No funds were spent on the order with Pape Kenworth. The award of this contract to Golden State Peterbilt replaces the order previously held with Pape Kenworth.

BACKGROUND

The Department of Public Utilities, Wastewater Management Division is responsible for the collection and treatment of wastewater produced by the City of Fresno. This is accomplished through the operation and maintenance of 1,750 acres of percolation ponds located at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
