RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommend that the City Council authorize the City Manager or designee to submit a proposal to Fresno Unified School District and authorize the City Manager or designee to accept reimbursement funds and sign all related documents on behalf of the City.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The PARCS Department is seeking authorization to submit a proposal to Fresno Unified School District to fund aquatics programming as part of the 2025 Blue Space program.

BACKGROUND

Each summer, the PARCS Department and Fresno Unified School District collaborate to provide swim lessons and recreational swim to the community. Fresno Unified School District provides funding for lifeguards and access to up to all seven high school pools (Bullard, Edison, Fresno High, Hoover, McLane, Roosevelt, and Sunnyside), and the City of Fresno hires, trains and supervises red Cross certified lifeguards to operate the pools. This collaboration is referred to as the "Blue Space Program".
