RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council approve the extension of the requirements contract with Calgon Carbon Corporation (Calgon) for an annual amount of $1,194,460.10, exercising two one-year extensions. This action would establish a total contract amount not-to-exceed $5,972,300.50. The contract covers the delivery, installation, removal, and destruction or regeneration of Granular Activated Carbon (GAC). Staff further recommends authorizing the Purchasing Manager to execute the extension on behalf of the City of Fresno (City).

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Department of Public Utilities - Water Division utilizes Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) as a vital component of the City's water treatment process to meet state and federal drinking water standards. GAC is used to remove regulated contaminants from both groundwater and surface water sources, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality drinking water to residents throughout the City.
