RECOMMENDATIONS

Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached one-year agreement with Fresno-Madera Area Agency on Aging (FMAAA) for $68,000 and approve the 17th Amendment to the Annual Appropriation Resolution No. 2015-104 appropriating $20,000 to operate the Senior Hot Meals (SHM) Program at six sites. The contract resources will go towards funding the day to day operation of SHM Program during FY 16.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This is an annual contract with FMAAA to provide hot meals to Senior Citizens living in Fresno. The City will receive $68,000 for site management and an allotment for congregate meals at six senior sites which include Lafayette Neighborhood Park, Mary Ella Brown Community Center, Mosqueda Community Center, Pinedale Community Center, Senior Citizens Village and Ted C. Wills Community Center. The FMAAA funding is supplemented with participant meal contributions and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to provide meals and recreation activities that include ceramics, sewing, gardening, water color painting, exercise programs, and excursions.
