RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends City Council adopt the Resolution acknowledging the receipt of a report prepared by the Fresno Fire Department related to the inspection of certain state-mandated occupancies in the City of Fresno as required per California Health and Safety Code Sections 13146.2 and 13146.3.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

State of California Senate Bill 1205 was passed in 2018 and modified the California Health and Safety Code (CHSC), to require every fire department to report annually to its administering authority on the status of completion of all CHSC required annual inspections of public and private schools, hotels, motels, and apartments.

The text of the bill also noted that these reports were to be completed during annual budget discussion to ensure that the "administrating authority" understood how funding priorities affects completion of state mandated annual inspections.

The bill requires the "administering authority" to acknowledge receipt of the report in a resolution or a similar formal document.

BACKGROUND

The Fire Department compiled the data for the inspections completed for these occupancies in for calendar year 2025, as directed by the CHSC.

The following information depicts the total number of occupancies subject to CHSC ?13146.2 and ?13146.3 requirements:

Group E educational occupancies (public and private schools): 250 Group E
Group R residential occupancies (hotels, motels, apartments, with three units or more): 2,478 Group R1 and R2.

The completion rate of all CHSC state mandated inspections was: 100%
