RECOMMENDATIONS

Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the City Manager or designee to apply for a grant of up to $100,000 from the California Coastal Conservancy Explore the Coast grant program and authorize the City Manager or designee to accept grant funds and execute the grant agreement and sign all related documents on behalf of the City.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The PARCS Department is seeking grant funding from the California Coastal Conservancy to provide recreational trips and experiences at the California Coast to older adults living in the City of Fresno.

BACKGROUND

The California Coastal Conservancy released the Explore the Coast 2025 funding cycle on November 14, 2024. If awarded, the approximately 3-year-long grant term would begin in January 2026 and end in late 2028. The California Coastal Conservancy has $650,000 available to award for the 2025 Explore the Coast funding cycle to support projects that facilitate and enhance the public's opportunities to explore California's coast. The maximum grant request per agency is $100,000. Grant applications are due January 24, 2025.
