RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends Council approve an agreement with the Valley Caregivers Resource Center allocating $50,000 and authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all related documents.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This funding was approved on June 17, 2025 as part of the Fiscal Year 2026 budget process and will support health equity by providing funding for the augmentation of the Oasis Adult Day Program. Valley Caregivers Resource Center, specifically the Oasis Adult Day Program is designed to provide a space to thrive for individuals in the early stages of dementia or Alzheimer's. Funding will help expand their services where participants can build friendship, engage in meaningful activities and enjoy a vibrant community.

BACKGROUND

The OASIS Adult Day Program is a licensed community care facility that operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, offering a safe and engaging environment for individuals in the early stages of dementia or Alzheimer's. With a staff-to-participant ratio of one to eight, the program ensures personalized attention while promoting independence through innovative activities designed to enhance self-esteem and social interaction.

Participants enjoy morning and afternoon snacks, with affordable lunch options available, all within a setting that encourages the formation of new friendships and meaningful connections. Monthly caregiver support groups provide additional resources and emotional relief for families, helping them manage the challenges of caregiving while maintaining their own well-being.
