Title
Actions pertaining to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant:
1. Approve application for and acceptance of the grant award for $35,900 and authorize the Fire Chief to complete and sign all required documents.
2. RESOLUTION - Authorizing the application for and acceptance of FY16 cycle U.S. Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program and authorizing completion of document.
3. ***RESOLUTION - 50th amendment to the Annual Appropriation Resolution (AAR) No. 2017-165, Appropriating $39,500 from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program to the Fire Department for Smoke Alarms and Strobe Smoke Alarms (Subject of Mayor's veto) (Requires 5 affirmative votes).

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended Council adopt the resolution to accept the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG) for $39,500 and the 50th amendment to AAR No. 2017-165 to appropriate funding to the Fire Department FY18 budget for the purchase of smoke alarms.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Fire Department participated in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant process and submitted an application on May 31, 2017, along with other public safety agencies. On June 12, 2017, the department was notified it had been awarded a grant in the amount of $39,500 to purchase 1,000 smoke alarms and 150 strobe smoke alarms for the citizens of Fresno. An adopted City Council resolution is required to enable the department to process the grant and receive payment of the grant funds.
BACKGROUND
On May 31, 2017, the department submitted an AFG application for the purchase 1,000 smoke alarms and 150 strobe smoke alarms total request of $39,500. On June 12, 2017, the department was notified it had been awarded funding.
