RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council approve the appropriation of $36,000 in grant funds from the Fresno Madera-Area Agency on Aging (FMAAA). The additional grant resources will go toward purchasing supplies and equipment for the six (6) Senior Hot Meals program (Program) sites.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The PARCS Department has been awarded $36,000 of "one time only" (OTO) grant funds from FMAAA that will allow PARCS staff to purchase additional supplies and equipment for the Program. With the additional resources PARCS will upgrade refrigerators, steam tables, ice machines, exercise equipment, gardening tools and equipment, and leisure learning supplies. The ability to purchase new equipment and supplies will benefit the program because it will provide an opportunity for replacing old obsolete equipment that is used for meal service delivery and add new recreation and enhance volunteer led programs for seniors that include gardening, knitting, ceramics, water aerobics and chess. Attached is a list of items to be purchased and the locations where they will be used.


BACKGROUND
