RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a finding of Categorical Exemption per staff determination, pursuant to Section 15332/Class 32 of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines and award a construction contract to CVE Demolition Inc., in the amount of $78,445, as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, for the demolition of the existing building at 3315 West Ashlan Avenue to clear the parcel for construction of the new Fire Station 12, and authorize the Public Works Director or designee to sign a standardized construction contract on behalf of the City.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In December 2021, Council approved the purchase of the property located at 3315 West Ashlan Avenue, for the construction of the new Fire Station 12. The property currently has a 7,600 square-foot commercial building. The Fire Department's initial plan was to remodel the interior space of the existing building and construct a large-span metal building to house several fire apparatus and additional space for storing turnouts, extractors, and other tools.
