It is recommended that Council approve the naming of Turtle Bay Park

 

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

 

The Council has the ability to name public facilities pursuant to Fresno Municipal Code section 5-101.  The McCaffrey Group has submitted a request to name a neighborhood park at the northeast corner of north Hayes and west Herndon Avenues. The 1.2 acre neighborhood park includes a tot lot, benches, seating wall and a large open space playfield.

 

BACKGROUND

 

The McCaffrey Group recently constructed a neighborhood park at the northeast corner of north Hayes and west Herndon Avenues. The park was built to enhance the well beings of existing and future residents, promote physical activity and encourage community engagement. The park has been open for several weeks and is very popular; particularly popular is the turtle sculpture that is the park’s prominent landmark.  Therefore, the name of Turtle Bay Park is recommended to Council for approval.
