RECOMMENDATIONS

Staff recommends the City Council adopt a finding of Categorical Exemption pursuant to Section 15301(c), Class 1 of the CEQA guidelines, award a construction contract with Glick Corporation, of Visalia, California in the amount of $184,882 as the only bidder and authorize the Public Works Director or designee to sign the construction contract on behalf of the City of Fresno.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The proposed Maple Avenue Cycle Track Improvements Project will improve cyclist safety along Maple Avenue from Shaw Avenue to Gettysburg Avenue by providing a physical barrier between the cyclist and all roadway vehicles. The project is funded through the State funded Active Transportation Program (ATP), local Measure "C" Bike funds, SB1 Gas Tax, and a local contribution from California State University (CSU), Fresno.

BACKGROUND

The Maple Avenue Cycle Track Improvements Project was initiated in FY19 when the City allocated Measure C and CSU Fresno funds to begin the design of the improvements. The grant funds for construction were obligated and the project was budgeted in the adopted FY20 Capital Budget by City Council. Preliminary engineering design and project management took approximately two years.
