RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that City Council approve a consultant services agreement with Michael K. Nunley and Associates Inc., (MKN) in the amount not to exceed $136,500, inclusive of a $12,000 contingency, to provide design, bidding, and construction support services for site improvements associated with a manganese treatment system at Pump Station 347 (Project); and authorize the Director of Public Utilities, or designee, to sign the agreement on behalf of the City of Fresno (City).

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The concentrations of manganese in the raw water from Pump Station 347 (PS 347) exceed the secondary Maximum Contaminant Level (sMCL) for drinking water. As a result, it is necessary to design a treatment system to ensure the well water is compliant with water quality standards and remains in service. The Department of Public Utilities (DPU), Water Division is seeking to award a consultant services agreement (Agreement) for the Project to provide design and construction support services for site improvement associated with a manganese treatment system at PS 347, for an amount not to exceed $136,500, inclusive of a $12,000 contingency.

BACKGROUND
