RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommend that the City Council adopt the resolution authorizing the grant application, acceptance, and execution of related documents for up to $3 million from BSCC's CalVIP program to fund violence prevention and intervention programming.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Staff are requesting authorization to submit a grant application of up to $3 million to fund the Parks, After School, Recreation and Community Services Department's (PARCS) violence intervention and prevention programming throughout the City of Fresno for youth and/or young adults. The grant proposal will also include funding for Advance Peace. Adoption of the resolution will authorize submittal of the application and authorize the City Manager or designee to accept grant funding if awarded. The grant application is due on August 18, 2025.
BACKGROUND
On February 14, 2025, BSCC released a request for proposals for the CalVIP Cohort 5 grant program. The total available statewide funding through CalVIP Cohort 5 is $103,000,000. The total available funding in the "eligible large cities" category under which the City of Fresno is eligible to apply is $18,540,000. The deadline to submit a grant application is August 18, 2025.
