RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends City Council authorize the City Manager or designee to submit a proposal requesting reimbursement from Fresno Unified School District (FUSD) for providing aquatics programming at up to seven high schools in an amount not to exceed $350,000 and authorize the City Manager or designee to enter into 2024 aquatics related funding agreements on behalf of the City.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Parks, After School, Recreation, and Community Services Department (PARCS) is seeking approval to submit a proposal requesting reimbursement from FUSD for aquatics programming totaling up to $350,000. This authorization will fund the Blue Space Program which allows PARCS to provide community swim lessons and recreational swim at up to seven FUSD high schools each summer.

BACKGROUND

FUSD and the PARCS Department have worked together for many years to provide programming to the community. Partnerships with FUSD include after school programs, extended learning opportunities, and access to FUSD aquatic facilities through the Blue Space Program.
