RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that City Council approve Contract Change Order No. 03 in the amount of $0.00 on behalf of the City of Fresno to Avison Construction to increase Contract Time by forty-five (45) working days.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The purpose of the change order is to allow the Contractor forty-five additional working days due to delays with PG&E pole relocations, a new water service connection that had not been identified on the construction drawings, and extensive irrigation wire theft that occurred during construction, delaying the Contractor from completing the project. The change order involves additional time but no additional cost to the City.

BACKGROUND

On September 1, 2016, the City Council approved the funding agreement to allow Measure "C" funding to be used for the design and construction of the Midtown Trail (then referred to as the "Metro Trail"). The Midtown Trail was split into five segments to be designed and constructed as stand-alone projects.

The Shields Avenue Bankside Trail Project, Shields Avenue from First Street to Fresno Street, is Segment 2 of the Midtown Trail program, a planned 7 mile pedestrian and cycle multipurpose trail, which will ultimately provide connectivity between the Fresno Area Express hub at Manchester Center and the Clovis Old Town Trail.
