RECOMMENDATION

 

It is recommended that City Council adopt the attached Resolution declaring the results of the November 5, 2024, Presidential General Election.

 

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

 

On December 6, 2024, the City Clerk’s Office received a certified abstract of the canvass of the results of the consolidated Presidential General Election held on November 5, 2024, from the Fresno County Clerk. A resolution declaring the election results is attached for approval by the City Council as required by Elections Code 15400.

 

BACKGROUND

 

A consolidated Presidential General Election was held on November 5, 2024, for the purposes of a run-off election to elect a representative to serve a four-year term as Councilmember for Council District 6.  The Fresno County Clerk / Registrar of Voters returned a certified Statement of Votes Cast which details the election results as follows:

 

COUNCIL DISTRICT 6

Nick Richardson won the run-off election for Council District 6 with 51.54 percent of the vote.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL FINDINGS

 

By the definition provided in the California Environment Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines, this item is

not a “project” for the purpose of CEQA.

 

LOCAL PREFERENCE

 

Local Preference was not implemented because this action does not include a bid or an award of a

City construction contract.

 

FISCAL IMPACT

 

Election costs are funded through the General Fund and were previously budgeted in the Fiscal

Year 2024 Budget.
