RECOMMENDATIONS

Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a finding of Categorical Exemption per staff determination, pursuant to Section 15301 Class 1 (c) of the CEQA Guidelines, and award a construction contract with Dave Christian Construction Co. Inc., of Fresno, California in the amount of $337,689 as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder for the Orange Avenue Pavement Overlay from Butler to California Avenue and authorize the Public Works Director or designee to sign a the contract on behalf of the City.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The pavement along Orange Avenue from Butler Avenue to California Avenue is in a state of disrepair. The proposed asphalt overlay project will correct the existing deteriorated pavement condition and increase the life of the pavement while providing a smooth riding surface for motorists at a reasonable cost. The scope of the project also includes the replacement of damaged traffic signal detector loops.
