RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Fresno City Council receive the presentation by the SOUL Charter School students on the need to install a four way stop at Calaveras and N Streets and direct staff as seen fit to follow up on the issues raised.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The student of SOUL Charter School have been in dialogue with Councilmember Baines office in the last year about the needs of a school zone, proper signage and most recently a four way stop.  Today the students wish to present the case for the four way stop.   This comes as the students have continued to see issues of crossing the street even after the additional of a school cross walk, school crossing zone and school crossing signage which have been added.

BACKGROUND

The Students of SOUL have request a few minutes to share with the City Council, the need to install a four-way stop sign in front of their school based, through the conversations they have had with Councilmember Baines and his staff and are here today as a result.

ENVIRONMENTAL FINDINGS

The installation of a four way stop would not be a project for CEQA proposes.

LOCAL PREFERENCE

This is not applicable as if the stop is installed it would be done by city staff.

FISCAL IMPACT

Public Works staff time and the purchase of proper signage, and poles to support, most of which is already budgeted
