Staff recommends the City Council approve the Professional Services contract for $123,670 to BSK Associates Engineering & Laboratories for materials testing and Special Inspection for the RWTM, Project SW1C.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Department of Public Utilities (DPU), Wastewater Management Division is seeking to award a contract in the amount of $123,670 to BSK Associates Engineering & Laboratories for materials testing and special inspection services during the construction of SW1C. The SW1C project is the continuation of the RWTM, starting at the terminus of SW1B. The primary purpose of this construction project is to establish the third portion of the recycled water distribution pipeline to bring tertiary treated water from the Regional Wastewater Reclamation Facility (RWRF) into Roeding Park.

BACKGROUND

The SW1C project is the third of five phases of the SWQ and is approximately 5 miles in length. Phase three will continue from the terminus of phase two and convey recycled water from Belmont and Marks Avenue into Roeding Park. This project was anticipated originally to be constructed in FY17 but is being awarded in FY16 in order to speed water delivery to the areas up to and including Roeding Park.
