Staff recommends Council approve a professional consultant agreement in the amount of $78,262 with Siegfried Engineering, Inc., a Stockton-based California corporation, for design and engineering services to support the installation of upgraded passenger amenities for future enhanced frequency bus service along Shaw and Cedar Avenues.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Department of Transportation seeks Council approval to award a professional consulting agreement for design and engineering services to support the installation of upgraded passenger amenities at 64 bus stops along Shaw and Cedar Avenues. The Consultant shall engineer foundations for passenger shelters and identify sidewalk repairs at bus stops located along routes 9 and 38 to support the FAX planned enhanced frequency service. Award of this contract will allow FAX to prepare for the installation of new and modern passenger amenities, improve accessibility, and increase safety at 64 bus stops. This project will contribute to the overall efforts by FAX to improve service.
BACKGROUND
FAX is planning to enhance bus service by increasing service frequencies along the following two major corridors:
* Service to be enhanced on Shaw Avenue corridor between Brawley and Cedar Avenues.
* Service to be enhanced on the Cedar Avenue corridor between Butler and Shaw Avenues.
